Your safety is important to us. Please review the following safety policies before booking or participating in any rental or experience with Two Chix & A Dirty Oar. By renting from us, you acknowledge and agree to follow all safety guidelines and Florida boating laws.
General Safety Guidelines
- All guests must follow instructions provided by staff at all times.
- Guests must be physically capable of participating in water activities.
- Guests must disclose any medical conditions that could affect their safety.
- No one may participate while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- Reckless or unsafe behavior may result in immediate termination of the rental without refund.
- Two Chix & A Dirty Oar reserves the right to refuse service for safety reasons.
Life Jackets & Safety Equipment (Florida Law)
- U.S. Coast Guard–approved life jackets are provided for all boat and kayak rentals.
- One life jacket is required for each person on board.
- Life jackets must be properly sized and in good condition.
- Children under 6 years old must wear a life jacket at all times while the vessel is underway, as required by Florida law.
- Life jackets are required for all kayak renters and are strongly recommended to be worn at all times.
- Boats 16 feet or longer are equipped with a required throwable flotation device.
- Safety equipment must not be removed, altered, or misused.
Boat Rental Safety Rules
- Boat capacity limits must be followed at all times.
- Passengers must remain seated while the boat is moving.
- Standing on seats, rails, or swim platforms while underway is prohibited.
- Jumping or diving from the boat is not allowed unless approved by staff.
- Children must be supervised by an adult at all times.
- If a captain is provided, their instructions are final.
Kayak Rental Safety Rules
- Kayakers should have basic swimming ability.
- Kayaks must remain within designated rental areas.
- Kayakers must maintain a safe distance from motorized boats, docks, and restricted zones.
- Intentional tipping, horseplay, or reckless paddling is prohibited.
- Kayaks must be returned on time and in the same condition as received.
Weather & Environmental Conditions
- Rentals may be delayed, shortened, or canceled due to unsafe weather conditions including storms, lightning, high winds, or poor visibility.
- Weather-related decisions are made for customer safety and are final.
- Guests are expected to respect wildlife and the natural environment.
Alcohol & Impairment
- Operating a boat or kayak while impaired by alcohol or drugs is illegal under Florida law.
- Any guest showing signs of impairment will not be permitted to operate watercraft.
Florida Boating Requirements
- Renters must be at least 18 years old to rent a boat.
- Anyone born on or after January 1, 1988 who operates a motorized vessel may be required to have a Florida Boating Safety Education ID Card.
- Renters agree to follow all Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) boating regulations.
Liability & Personal Property
- All participants may be required to sign a liability waiver prior to rental.
- Two Chix & A Dirty Oar is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal belongings.
- Guests assume all risks associated with water activities, including weather changes and water conditions.
Right to Refuse or Terminate Service
- Two Chix & A Dirty Oar reserves the right to refuse or terminate service without refund if safety rules are violated or if behavior poses a risk to any participant or staff member.
